This was my mom's recipe for chocolate chip cookies, and they are perfect! I have tried many other chocolate chip cookie recipes and this one takes the cake!...or should I say cookie...;)
2 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup melted, salted butter
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 bag of milk chocolate chips
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees with your oven rack set at the middle shelf of your oven.
In a large bowl; mix the flour, salt, baking soda, and sugars. Breaking up any lumps of brown sugar with your fingers.
Then add the; egg, butter, shortening, and vanilla with your hands until well combined and dough resembles a large, wet dough ball.
Next add the chocolate chips until well combined.
Line your baking sheets with aluminum foil. (For crispier cookies ) Form small 1-2 inch flat disk like cookies onto your baking sheets, spaced at least one inch apart from one another. Note: for gooey-er cookies, don't flatten your cookie dough, instead just roll them into 2 inch dough balls onto your baking sheet.
Once oven is preheated, place your baking sheet on the middle rack to bake for 16-17 mins, or until cookies have browned slightly and edges are brown.
Once cookies are done, place cookies on cooling racks and re-use the aluminum foil for the next batch. Cook in batches until dough is gone.
Store your cooled cookies in a Tupperware or zip lock bag for lasting freshness.
Note: you can freeze these cookies once they are cooked and cooled. Just portion them up and place them in zip lock bags and pop the bags into your freezer! They will last up to 2 months in your freezer, enjoy!
